"Some songs seem to have a lot more of an agenda than others," said guitarist Josh Klinghoffer in a statement. "Some songs play well with others and some songs need more attention and a little extra care. Here are some songs that seemed to want to pair up and take a later train. Keep your eye on them, they're up to something."

The first package, "Strange Man" on side A and "Long Progression" on side B, will be released Aug. 14. The second, "Magpies" and "Victorian Machinery," will drop Sept. 11 and the third, "Never Is a Long Time" and "Love of Your Life," follows on Oct. 2. The remaining singles (all titles TBD) will be released through the end of the year and in early 2013.Billboard

The Chili Peppers are already on a roll following the release of their tenth studio album, "I'm With You," which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 last year. It has sold 554,000 copies in the U.S. to date according to Nielsen SoundScan and has spawned three top 10 hits on the Alternative Songs chart: "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" (No. 1 for four weeks), "Monarchy of Roses" (No. 4) and "Look Around" (No. 8). When "Look Around" hit the top 10, it gave the band a record 24 top 10s on the chart -- the most of any act in the Alternative chart's nearly 24-year history.

Each of the new single releases will feature cover artwork by Kelsey Brookes, an artist whose colorful work grasps the linking of microbiology, surf culture and folk art. Fans will be able to combine the covers of the vinyl singles to create a larger piece of art.

The recently-inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are currently touring in support of "I'm With You," their first studio effort with Klinghoffer. The band recently played a stellar set at the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee and is slated to headline Chicago's Lollapalooza festival in August.
