Lawson

Lawson Download frontman Andy Brown's broken relationship with the blonde starlet prompted him to pour his heart and soul into a new track and gather up his bandmates to record the results. Question is: Can 'When She Was All Mine' become a bittersweet chart success?

"What I miss the most/ Is talking up all night/ We laughed until we cried," Andy reminiscences over pop-rock guitars and beats that fall somewhere between the soul of Maroon 5 and The Script's knack for a worryingly catchy melody. "Now I'm breaking at the seams/ Dropping to my knees/ Nothing left of me," he confesses of his loss, before bursting into an ear-snagging chorus. Fortunately, we suspect the silver lining of this particular cloud is just about to shine.

Loreen

millions across Europe (and those of us with an Internet feed here in the States) tuned in for the annual Eurovision Song Contest broadcasting live from host city — and 2011 winner — Baku, Azerbaijan. It was there that a thick-banged siren Loreen stunned the globe with her phenomenal performance of the infectious tune “Euphoria” coming in first place by a whopping 113 points (ahead of Buranovskiye Babushki, the adorable singing, baking grandmothers of Russia).
Yesterday, the 28-year-old Swede had a warm homecoming as she took over a balcony in Stockholm and serenaded a massive crowd of fans with her famous tune on Sweden’s SVT. While Loreen left her signature Tai Chi-inspired dance moves at home, she did mix things up by opening with a live string trio before tearing into her EDM hit.

Rudimental

RudimentalDownload
are a UK urban four piece, comprising of songwriter and producer Piers Agget, songwriter Kesi Dryden and DJs Locksmith and Douglas. Their first release was back in 2008, although their sound has changed a lot since their early days (and the club anthem that first got them known, “Sexy Sexy”).
“We have progressed a lot since 2008,” they said in an interview with Knowledge. “Naturally as producers and DJs you have to adapt and move with the times, if not ahead of them. I think Rudimental have always had an experimental and eclectic sound which has been quite difficult to bracket. Recently we have started to incorporate more live instruments on our tracks and work with a wider range of singers and artists, so our sound has just continued to evolve organically. I think being of our generation and growing up in East London, UK garage has definitely been a huge influence and was the sound we grew up on, although hip hop, funk, soul, jazz, jungle, and pretty much every other genre possible have been important to all of us in various measures.”
“Feel the Love” is a far cry from last release “Spoons,” which had a seriously late night Detroit house vibe, with an echoed vocal that reflected where the song was going – “deeper and deeper…”. The group explain the variety of their tastes through the influence that their London home as on them. “London has had a huge affect on us creatively,” they say. “Bass culture goes back deep into the 90s with jungle for our generation, and I think the amount of sub genres that have come from electronic music in London are what helps makes it such an exciting city to live in.”
In case you were wondering, the video for “Feel the Love” – directed by Bob Harlow – takes a look at the lives of a downtown youth group in Fletcher Street, Philadelphia. Although the scenes of horse-riding through the tough, urban neighbourhoood might seem far fetched, the youth group look after and meet at the Fletcher Street Stables. What you see is a sense of community on the wrong side of the tracks – and it’s a joyeous thing to behold.

Gary Barlow

told the Press Association that he'd originally intended to record the single in Britain with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, but was warned by the Prince of Wales that the Queen preferred her iPod playlist to have an international flavour. "He said, 'If you really want the Queen to like this, find people; go and travel and find people.' And it was at that point I had to go back to the BBC and say, we need a bit more money because we've got to get on a plane a few times and go off round the world."
It's testament to Barlow's songwriting that having elicited contributions from Australia, Africa, Jamaica, the South Pacific and the House of Windsor – he has managed to produce something that sounds like a Take That track. The music was co-written with Lord Lloyd-Webber, but Barlow composed the lyrics himself. "Sing it louder, sing it clearer, knowing everyone will hear ya," implores the chorus, though it neglects to suggest what, exactly, the Commonwealth's 2.1 billion citizens ought to sing about. Her Majesty, maybe. "Sing"

Black keys

The Black Keys
DownLoadThis song is the latest release from their last album 'El Camino'. Directed by Harmony Korine, who directed US cult films such as Kids and [i]Mister Lonely[i], the video features the duo dressed up in fluffy baby costumes being carried by two men in Black Keys masks.

The Black Keys are set to release their own documentary. Noah Abrams, the director behind the yet-untitled film, has said he had no plans to shoot a straight band documentary and revealed that the movie would be a "buddy movie with perhaps the greatest soundtrack of all time".

The filmmaker told Spin:
A lot of music documentaries spend too much time trying to make people cool. I'm fortunate enough to know these guys pretty well and their relationship is pretty incredible and very funny.NME
Abrams has been on the road since last summer's sold-out 'El Camino' world tour dates at Manchester's O2 Apollo. He has filmed the band as they have traversed the world in support of their latest album.

Praising the duo's hard-working commitment to their music, Abrams added: "They worked and worked and worked and toured and toured and slept in a van and worked their asses off and now they're selling out arenas."

The director will be travelling with the band until their tour winds down in the autumn. He aims to have the documentary wrapped up in time to showcase the movie at next year's film festivals and hopes for a theatrical release.

He said: "We've gotten some amazing footage so far. For as big as these guys are now, they're still two guys from Akron. The comedy is usually endless with these two."
