Gorillaz

The bonkers collaboration of Gorillaz Downloadleader Damon Albarn,OutKast rapper Andre 3000 and LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy -- titled "DoYaThing" -- now has an equally bonkers video. Complete with the signature Gorillaz animation by the band's co-creator Jamie Hewlett, the "DoYaThing" clip impressively melds the cartoon world with live-action footage inside one disgusting crib. Watch below. The one-off collaboration of "DoYaThing" represents the latest entry in Converse's "3 Artists. 1 Song" campaign, as unveiled as a free download on Converse's official site on Feb. 23. The show co. also released a Gorillaz footwear collection designed by Hewlett, who directed the above clip.

"We didn't exchange any ideas at all [beforehand]," James Murphyrecalled to Billboard earlier this month. "Damon was basically saying, 'Let's just get in a room,' which, even if it wasn't Damon Albarn, is a pretty convincing argument, really. To be honest, I was worried that I should prepare something, but went with it anyway."

Madonna has been threatened with legal action by 'Girls Gone Wild' creator Joe Francis. Speaking to US gossip site TMZ, Francis stated about the potential claim: ''Clearly her label was trying to avoid legal action surrounding the song. But 'Girl Gone Wild' is still infringement as far as the law is concerned, and we have been in touch with Madonna's people in an effort to resolve the issue.''

However, Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary subsequently told TMZ that no one from their team had ever received a letter from Francis, and that Madonna was unaware of the situation.

Simple Minds

To anyone bemoaning Simple Minds'Download second life as U2Download's little stadium-rock brothers, the aficionado would point to their early albums when they were experimentalists, their heads unturned by the US dollar. Now as recent releases like The Horrors' Skying are compared favourably with formative Minds efforts, there's a chance for everyone to appreciate the fuss. X5 is a box set of their first five albums, plus remixes and live tracks, nominally issued to commemorate the 30th anniversary of New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84) but, more pertinently, to tie in with a set of gigs that will draw exclusively on the material.BBC

And it's a fascinating study of one band's evolution, as they quickly find their feet, take them in unexpected directions then plant them firmly in the 80s rock soil. Immediately, there's no real indication of the Glaswegians' past as punks Johnny and the Self Abusers. Life in a Day – Simple Minds' 1979 debut – owes an undeniable debt to Roxy Music and the David Bowie Downloadof Station to Station and Low, mixing curt piano lines and glam rock but also hinting at a sense of fun that would later be wiped clear. Chelsea Girl even sounds like the hit that would nevertheless elude them for three years.

Real to Real Cacophony, released just a few months later, is more stripped back but seethes with ideas from the jumbled snare flashes of Citizen (Dance of Youth) to the oompah synths of Film Theme. Empires and Dance in 1980 – is there anyone so prolific these days? Rihanna, maybe – is more out-there still, its adventure epitomised by the convulsive Twist/Run/Repulsion, with Jim Kerr still finding his voice but guitarist Charlie Burchill carving perfect geometric shapes. There are shared patterns with chronological peers Talking Heads but Simple Minds are already looking closer to home, to Sheffield perhaps (or further up the tree, to DĂĽsseldorf), embracing electronics.

Moving along, jewels abound on 1981's Sons and Fascination in the scratchy Sweat In Bullet and a title-track where Kerr begins to nail his baritone, but bolt-on album Sister Feelings Call really shines. The headlong drive and waterfall synths of Theme for Great Cities would become a bed for late-80s techno monsters, and the Minds at last discover a killer chorus on The American.

Finally – one breathless year later – there's New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84), the stepping stone. Burchill's guitar is seeking out riffs now, Kerr is the rabble-rousing frontman – and there are hits. The glorious hooks of Glittering Prize still sound great and Promised You a Miracle is an unavoidable breakthrough; but that questing, quirky spirit is gone, replaced by a big bold music that will fatten the wallet. For the rest of
us it was worth it for the journey.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga

Lady GagaDownload has responded after NME dubbed 'Born This Way' the "most pretentious album ever".

The singer took to Twitter to vent her anger after she read our recent blog post
"Oh the irony of winning "Most Pretentious Album Ever" from none other than NME. *eyeroll* I might laugh forever + then return to narcissism."
The singer's 2011 album was among a host of LPs criticised for being pretentious including Metallica Downloadand Lou Reed's recent collaboration 'Lulu', The Smashing Pumpkins' 'Machina/The Machines Of God' and Mansun's 'Six'.

Gaga recently revealed that she overcame bulimia to save her singing voice. "I used to throw up all the time in high school, so I'm not that confident," she said.

"And maybe it's easier for me to talk about it now because I don't do it anymore. I wanted to be a skinny little ballerina but I was a voluptuous little Italian girl whose dad had meatballs on the table every night.

"I used to come home and say, 'Dad, why do you always give us this food? I need to be thin. 'And he'd say, 'Eat your spaghetti.'"

Noel Gallagher

Noel Gallagher Downloadcould "easily be playing" on the next Coldplay album, according to one of Chris Martin and co's roadies.

In a blog post published on Coldplay's official siteDownload, the roadie revealed that the High Flying Birds man had given singer Chris Martin a recording of a guitar loop he had been playing during the pair's rehearsal for their Brits duet earlier this week.

Discussing Martin and Gallagher's jamming session, he wrote: "Noel stamps on a pedal and starts off a loop of glorious noise. Immediately Chris is on his feet and shouting 'What the hell is that?'. Chris has his iPhone out to record it, excitedly proclaiming it the most amazing thing he's ever heard. Noel is laughing as the pedal loops away through the stack."

He added: "Fast forward to the dressing room on the show day and Chris is handing me the pedal responsible for all the fuss. It turns out that Noel has come in today and motioned Chris over to his dressing room next door with the words 'I've got a little resent for yer…'"
The unnamed roadie then revealed that Martin had asked him to record what was in the pedal so it could be used in the studio. He went on to say:
"Where it'll end up, I've no idea, but if it finds its way into a song, Noel could easily be playing on the next record without ever having set foot in the studio. Wonderful madness…"
Martin and Gallagher teamed up to perform a duet of the former Oasis man's track 'AKA… What A Life'.Martin and Gallagher teamed up to perform a duet of the former Oasis man's track 'AKA… What A Life' at the ceremony, while Coldplay also took home the gong for British Group.

Gallagher is due to pick up the Godlike Genius award and perform at next week's NME Awards (February 29).
