AlunaGeorge

.AlunaGeorge
 Attracting Flies

Aluna boasts the quality of a front woman from her role in 'synth-pop' band 'My Toys Like Me.' Though, her shy and insecure voice seen in their earlier stuff is a long way from the poised character she assigns to AlunaGeorge. Her pitchy vocal is one of the aspects that make AG sound distinctive.
George may have been a guitarist in 'math-pop' act, 'Colour' but he seems at home here with his place in production. His ear for an explosive beat aligns him with all the favourite J's of the field: Jamie XX, Jamie Woon and the disjointed patchworks of James Blake. Their clear love of 'pop' has given them the inspiration to make their own admirable take on the commercial genre.
Well-known track, 'You Know You Like It' was a clever first single. From the first time you hear it, its repetitive nature and bouncing synths will leave it swirling around your head. The unintentional ploy for getting their name across will divide likes and dislikes. You'll either think it's the most sleek and amazing slice of shoulder shrugging electro-pop. Or you'll find it the most irritating and monotonous thing and refuse to listen anymore, to eliminate the risk of it driving you insane. The line 'life can be cruel if you're a dreamer' offers up a message of creativity and persistence installed in the pair.

The catchy song is sure to do well in the charts. It's memorable, it's fresh and Gabz' voice is contemporary, yet unique.
Gabz has said about the track: “I'm really excited about my single being released, I'm so happy, it's a dream come true!”
When Gabz first auditioned on Britain's Got Talent, Simon Cowell said "I think we’re looking at a future pop star."

look through these human eyes like a boyband trapped in the bodies of a deliriously psychedelic prog-rock collective. Here on Earth, they’re a band of irreconcilable contradictions – they write impeccable pop songs on guitars they’ve customised with mad musical gadgets; they release one single (‘Wishbone’) that gets played by Fearne Cotton on Radio 1 and release another (‘Dreamboat’) on a USB stick stuffed inside a rubber foetus. The fact is, here on this boring old planet of ours, pop groups releasing tracks that come with free umbilical cord necklaces just isn’t the tried and tested route to commercial success. And that’s why, no matter how much we bang on about them, there’s a good chance you’ve got no idea who Hey Sholay are

Bronze Radio Return

exhibit these reckless tendencies to the nth degree on their fourth studio release, and there’s an enviable sense of abandon in their choosing to create pieces that treat even the most mundane of occurrences as being worthy of celebration. Take the excellent “Mister Mister”, for instance, which I’m fairly certain contains one of the summer’s best choruses (“Hey mister mister you can have my days but you better leave my nights ALOOO-OOONE!!!” sings vocalist Chris Henderson), or “Melting in My Icebox” – a true out-and-out anthem if there ever was one – which aims for the feeling of driving down a wide, sunbaked freeway with windswept hair and the roof down, and succeeds with flying colours. Elsewhere, the after-effects of the band’s decision to retire to a farm in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia to write their fourth studio release is not lost as well, with songs like “Sylvan” and “World Spin” slipping neatly into the back-end of Bronze Radio Return’s oeuvre of country-tinged folk-pop.

BLISS N ESO

The Sydney trio’s new clip for Home Is Where The Heart Is tells that story, complete with some old home movies of the BnE boys,, Bliss fills us in on the night BnE was born.
Eso’s spin on ‘home’ is a verse about living his dream with his girlfriend and we’re even privy to his onstage marriage proposal (she said yes!) in front of a massive festival audience. To finish off, we’re shown the home these lads have found in stadiums across the country and in the hearts of Australian hip hop heads.
The threesome will start a six-date tour next month covering all mainland capital cities and joined by two very special guests – Alabama’s rising star Yelawolf and local MC Pez.

"Boomerang," which new frontman Ed Robertson describes as "A really personal song that says, 'You can be done with me, but I'm not done with you.' For me, it's about feeling relevant." For that reason, "Boomerang" is a good introduction to their upcoming new record, due out June 4th.

"As I started to approach this record," Ed continues, "There was a period where I felt like I didn't know what to say and I didn't know who cared. But then I realized, y'know, I care. I like what I do, I'm a good songwriter and I'm gonna write -- I'm gonna express things. group of five teenagers from Melbourne have already received such admiration from music fanatics around the globe. Then again, Hung on Tight is a perfect demonstration of why you can’t help but fall hopelessly in love with this group. This track has totally surpassed my expectations. It’s mesmerising, it’s laid back, it’s magical and Sean’s vocal performance is absolutely infectious. How extraordinary does it feel when you discover a tune that makes you want to laze in the grass under the sun? Or (in my case) makes you want to get up and float around the kitchen while making scrambled

“Hey Girl”. Really, any song on their debut album could be a single – SuperMegaFantastic is THAT good. Gotta give this band a lot of credit, they started out super small scale. Their debut EP and subsequent 2 videos directed by Marty “Lazer” Stano got them their first real recognition and then from there their hit single releases and high-energy live shows have propelled them to the brink of breakout mainstream success. If their followup album is anywhere near as good as their debut, IAMDYNAMITE will surely be a hugely popular band. The Tube

Billy Vincent

Billy Vincent
release their stunning new single And It Fights in May.  Billy Barratt and David Vincent’s inspired tales from the front line of life delve deep into a narrative so resonant it beggars belief that two south Londoners, so young, can draw on such a deep seam of emotion with such engaging empathy. They deliver evocative stories – if indeed that is what they are (my god I hope these guys haven’t lived all this!) – of life’s bittersweet chapters that past masters of the art, Cave, Davies, Morrisey & Stipe have taken years to hone.  For every Americana or folk inflection there is an edge to Billy Vincent that suggests they share a kinship with The Faces or The Libertines as much as anybody else: this is a gang you’d like to hang with as much as eulogise.

“Not Too Late.” One of Miami Music Week’s signature tracks, it gained major play from some of the world’s most respected DJs. Turning the tables, it’s now time for Tom to get his own work remixed. The “Not Too Late” remix package is stunning and packed with diverse interpretations of the track. The original mix covers a fantastic palette of musical colors for each remixer to choose from; a perfect combination on progressive electro paired with powerful vocals.  Bassnectar and Patrick Reza retain the overall spirit of Tom’s original but possess the drop with their signature bass attack. Maor Levi goes completely apesh!t on his remix building a flowing instrumental up to one of the sickest drops you’re bound to hear this spring. It’s top level. As with the first two remixes, Josef Belani opts to make the track his own. His version is atmospheric and emotional; building throughout towards a glorious synth-heavy explosion. Sebjak rounds out the collection with his electro-techy stamp splattered over the original. It’s a solid collection not to be missed.

 Album Settle

The most immediate songs on Guy and Howard Lawrence's Essential debut album Settle, such as "White Noise" and "You & Me," use guest vocalists, and the Lawrence brothers have likewise barely factored into those songs' sumptuously well-realized videos. Howard sings lead vocals on latest Settle video selection "F for You," and the video — directed by Ben
Murray and Ross McDowell — shows the brothers performing live in a studio. The end results are just as captivating as Disclosure's more conceptual videos, though, as lights evoking some distant future swirl around the brothers and the album cover art's mask motif reappears.

Previous singles Recover and The Mother We Share saw them top things like the Hype Machine chart and various other important lists that count towards a satisfying online portfolio. Having signed their own label Goodbye Records to Virgin, however, there's the sense that all this chatter needs to be converted into actual tangible record sales. Thankfully current single Gun – all fragmented synths, rapid-fire beats and more hooks per minute than most other pop singles – has given them a pretty good chance of making the leap from online clickbait to daytime radio staples.

Half Moon Run

Half Moon Run

 Call Me In The Afternoon

Half Moon Run is a talented young trio from Ottawa, Ontario and Comox, British Columbia. It was in a practice studio situated in Montreal’s Mile-End district, through the hardships of time constraints and flatlined bank accounts, that the trio bonded and created their unique sound, fusing together the restless elements of indie, pop and folk with beautiful rhythmic harmonies, delicate guitar lines and a hint of warm electronica.
Armed with solid training and raw talent, they mix and combine their different musical backgrounds. Their complex arrangements, inspired by both classical and modern composers, are particularly striking to hear and see during their live shows. Devon Portielje’s remarkable voice is beautifully backed up by Connor Molander and Dylan Phillips. Phillips often plays drums and keys simultaneously as Molander and Portielje shuffle between guitar, keys, samplers, and percussion folky three-part harmonies hold down moody, psychedelic arrangements and electronic-infused soundscapes.

Trademark cascading hooks abound in The Right Thing Right and Lockdown, while European Me again reprises the Elvis riff he once remodelled for Rusholme Ruffians. There's a different energy in the likes of Upstarts – the prickly pop power of Mancunian predecessors Buzzcocks – and more typical Marr tunesmithery in the excellent Electronic-esque title track.

Homesick” is a song I feel wouldn’t work for many bands, and that’s why it sounds so perfect in the hands of Catfish And The Bottlemen. A deep and explosive chorus contrasts with the melodic riffs of the laid-back verses, and although it’s short it is incredibly sweet sounding. Rich in indie-rock goodness, it really is a difficult task to keep myself away from the play button, and seeing as I’ve pressed it so many times the entire song is contently trapped in my brain.
Having worked with producer and Communion co-founder Ian Grimble, it seems that both the label and the lads are agreed on the groups distinctive sound that strikes a sword of familiarity but holds a true uniqueness to a sound they can call their own.
