Mumford and Sons

Mumford and Sons headed up the bill on the University of Texas' LBJ lawn last night (March 17) as part of the final day of the music wing of SXSW festival in Austin - scroll down to watch fan footage.

The band played a number of songs which seem likely to make their second album, including live favourites 'Lover's Eyes' and 'Lover Of The ght'. Marcus Mumford introduced 'Ghosts That We Knew', a song they first debuted in November last year, as "one you definitely haven't heard before".NME

Mumford andSons joined Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros on the line-up after the second public screening of the film 'Big Easy Express', which documents the bands' joint 2011 Railroad Revival Tour of North America. The Emmett Malloy directed film received its worldwide premiere earlier on in the day at the Paramount Theatre, after which Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and members of Old Crow Medicine Show reunited to perform a short acoustic set.

The band took to the outdoor stage at 10.20pm (CT), opening with 'Sigh No More', before keyboard player Ben Lovett dedicated 'Roll Away Your Stone' to "all the people in Austin who've put up with all the people who've come to South By Southwest". Banjo player Winston Marshall also made reference to St Patrick's Day, apologising to the crowd for the lack of alcohol at the unlicensed venue.

Later in the set the Austin High Marching band - who appear in 'Big Easy Express' - arrived onstage to play along with 'The Cave'. Meanwhile, members of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros joined the band onstage for 'Awake My Soul'.

Hundreds of fans who weren't able to get into the show watched the evening's entertainment from behind fences. Before Mumford and Sons played their headline show, Marcus Mumford joined Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros onstage for their performance of 'All Wash Out In The Rain
