Paul McCartney Warns 1D Of Beatles Comparison Curse
He says boy band need to be wary of hype linking them to Fab Four...
The fivesome, who recently became the first UK group to debut at No 1 in the American Billboard 200 chart with their first album, have been greeted by hysterical fans while touring the US and Canada.
But 69-year-old Macca told Daybreak: "There are so many bands who all get called 'the next Beatles'. Suddenly it puts an awful lot of pressure on them to be the next Beatles.MTV
"Oasis were 'the next Beatles' once if you remember. It's a pressure, because suddenly you've got to live up to all the things that we did, and it was a different time. So let's just call them 'the next terrific band'."
He was enthusiastic about their success though, saying: "They're doing well in America. It's good - good luck, lads."
