Noel Gallagher on Stone Roses' reunion: 'It's great to see Ian Brown and John Squire onstage again

Noel Gallagher has said it's "great" that The Stone Roses have reformed as it means bassist Mani "will shut up about not making any money".

The High Flying Birds man told BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe that he was "really made up" that the Madchester legends had finally reunited, but suggested that he was most pleased about the news because it would stop Mani from talking about how he and the band had been "robbed".

"I know they've been rehearsing and I've spoken to a couple of people who have been in rehearsal who have said it sounds amazing, but I'm just really made up for them that they finally did it," he said.

He went on to add: It's great to see John Squire and Ian Brown on stage already, and great that Mani will eventually shut up about not making any money. All he's done for the last 15 years has been, 'Did you know we got robbed in the Roses?
The former Oasis chief also admitted that he had been nervous before embarking on his first solo tour last year, adding: "The first show was fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants and I'd not played anywhere that small for a while, I used to rehearse in bigger rooms than that.

And it's got better. To start off in England was quite mad, because the crowds are crazy over here, then we went to America where they are a bit more reserved, so I got into it a bit more, I'm enjoying it."

Noel Gallagher tours the UK this year, with arena dates booked in February and September. You can watch a video of him discussing his solo album 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

The Stone Roses announced their reunion at a press conference last October. Since then, they have signed two new record deals and are set to play a slew of comeback gigs this summer, including three huge homecoming shows at Manchester's Heaton Park on June 29, 30 and July 1.

They will also play festival slots at Spain's Benicassim, Scotland's T In The Park, Japan's Fuji Rock Festival, Portrugal's Optimus Alive '12, Denmark's NorthSide and Sweden's Hultsfred.
