Elbow: 'Our London 2012 Olympics song is epic'

Elbow have promised that their official soundtrack for the London 2012 Olympics sounds "epic".

Speaking to Noise11, bassist Pete Turner said that track, which will soundtrack the BBC's coverage of the Games this summer, will be played for the first time in March.

Discussing the song, he said: "That was really good. Just an area that we've never explored, really, writing something specifically for something else. And it was great; really good fun."

He went on to add:
It's a pretty epic tune. It's got the Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Community Gospel on it. I'm looking forward to hearing that. I think it gets its first airing in March.
In November, Elbow singer Guy Garvey said that recording the track was a "real responsibility" and revealed that the band were "knocked out" at the chance to be involved.

The band have previously confirmed that they have begun work on the follow-up to 'Build A Rocket Boys!', but has not said when they hope to complete or release their sixth studio album.
