BuzzFeed has quoted a representative for Caesers Palace, where Britters was claimed to be signing up for a £63m residency, as saying the venue was not in negotiations with the star.
Emily Wofford, public relations director for Caesers Entertainment, said that the venue was "packed every weekend" for months and that the firm is "engaged with a number of today's top artists in discussions regarding headlining residencies at our venues in Las Vegas".
But although Britney isn't on the list at the moment, Wofford said her company is "always interested in having artists with the calibre of Britney Spears performing at our theatres."
Speculation that Britney had a Vegas residency lined-up began as soon as she announced she would not be returning to The X Factor USA.
Celine Dion, Elton John and Shania Twain are among the big-name acts with residencies at the venue already.
