Amazon their latest EP that will be released on March 18th via RCA/B-Unique, The High Hopes EP, we have already heard two tracks – ‘All My Friends’ (an acoustic cover of an LCD Soundsystem classic) and ‘The Answer’ – but now it’s time to hear the third. Kodaline have released ‘High Hopes’ – a heartfelt ballad with an equally heart-breaking video to match.
Appropriately described as an anthem, ‘High Hopes’ begins with a soft piano to ease us into a simple intro, until drums crash and guitars come together behind an aggressively raw vocal from lead singer, Steve Garrigan. Singing as if on the edge of tears, the record is and expressive and sensitive piece of music to pair with a lyric full of courage and faith. The guitar solo towards the end of the four-minute tear-jerker allows for the build of emotion for a final release at the end.
The video for ‘High Hopes’ features actor Liam Cunningham who is starring in Game Of Thrones, and you can check out the video below. After the release of The High Hopes EP on March 18th, Kodaline will be releasing another EP, In A Perfect World, a week later. So watch out, Kodaline are gonna be around for a good while to come!
