Katy Perry Cancels First Post-Divorce Appearance
The E.T. singer will not be attending the People's Choice
Katy Perry has cancelled her first appearance since hubby Russell Brand announced he had filed for divorce.

The Firework hitmaker was due to attend the 2012 People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles tomorrow (11th January), but has since decided to pull out of the star-studded bash following the end of her marriage.

Taking to Twitter, Perry told her disappointed followers: "Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS."

Perry recently commented on her divorce on the social-networking site, thanking her fans for their support, tweeting: "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again."

The 27-year old also addressed rumours surrounding the break down of her 14-month marriage, adding: "Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, 'close sources' or my family."

The One That Got Away singer is apparently writing songs about her split from Russ, with reports suggesting they could feature on her next album.
