Rihanna Based Film Character On 'Bad Ass' Sailor

Rihanna has divulged details about her debut acting role in upcoming movie Battleship.

Speaking in a behind-the-scenes video, RiRi - who plays Petty Officer Raikes in the flick - explains that her character is based on a real-life 'bass ass' female sailor called Jackie, who served as the 23-year old's technical advisor.


The We Found Love singer claims: "My character, her name is Raikes. She’s a weapons officer, she’s not afraid of anything. She loves weapons, she knows them – not only her weapons, but every other weapon on the ship.

“We had this bad ass chick on set. Her name is Jackie, she’s also in the Navy. I was playing what she really does in real life. She was all tatted up and I just looked at her and I was like, ‘You are Raikes.’

“I watched her and I really just lived and breathed in her mindset and tried to really get into her character. She’s fearless and she’s one of the boys and it was really fun to just explore that.”

You can catch RiRi in Battleship when the film hits cinemas on 18th May.
