At the forefront of London's female vocalist scene, Delilah Download plans on releasing her newest single "Breathe" remixed by LV on May 14 through Atlantic Records. We've been fortunate enough to hear it first, and share it with Earmilk listeners before it's released to the public. The remix will release as part of an EP including a huge remix from Emalkay and rising drum & bass star Sub Zero, plus the duet version with vocalist Liam Bailey. We've already posted the Sub Zero & Liam Bailey versions of the track, but alongside the two stellar additions, we'll include them within this post as an ear refresh.
Delilah - born Paloma Stoecker in Paris in 1990 - spend the majority of the last year touring the country with Chase and Status and more recently, Maverick Sabre. She has had over five million YouTube hits to date and gained support from major radio stations across the UK, including a tip in 1Xtra's "Hot for 2012" list. Having already released her debut smash track "Go" (a reworking of Chaka Kahn's "Ain't Nobody" and "Love You So"), she is set to take 2012 by storm with her debut album From The Roots Up, set for release this summer.
With regard to the latest rework of stellar track "Breathe", LV's co-produced version takes on more of an instrumental, soft drum & bass feel. The remix successfully pulls from the strong vocals Delilah brings forth in the original version, all the while intertwining them with an addictive underlying beat. This track is definitely one-of-a-kind, yet it still manages to do the original song justice. It's always an amazing feat to continually turn one track into multiple, all with a different vibe and energy evoke when listened to.
The Emalkay rework of the track is too marvelous not to mention. Again, it's astonishing how each producer's take on this track turns each one's remix into a piece of stand-alone aural art. This track is a bit darker in feel, with deeper drum and bass instilled throughout the duration. A totally different energy evoked from this track against the others, the Emalkay remix of "Breathe" provides the multifaceted original track an underground "4am after the bars" feel.
