Katy Perry has been spotted in public for the first time since hubby Russell Brand announced he was divorcing the singer.

The California Gurls hitmaker, who was kept a low profile since Brand decided to end their 14-month marriage, posed for a picture with fan Eric Berlanger last night (12th January), showing off her newly-dyed bright blue hair.

According to The Sun, Perry was snapped with Berlanger after he met her when the 27-year old finished filming a Adidas commercial in Santa Barbara, California.

Speaking of his encounter with the blue-haired star, Eric claimed Katy appeared to be in 'good spirits', telling the newspaper: "It was great to see her, I have met her a couple times before and I am a big fan!

"She was great, really nice, she seemed happy. She was in a van and saw me. I waved and she made the driver of the van stop and she lowered the window and I went up to her and she put out her hand and said: 'Hey its good to see you again!'

"I said the same and then I asked if I could take a picture with her and she said yes and got out of the van and gave me a hug and told me I smell good then we took the two pictures."

Perry, who recently cancelled her first post-divorce appearance at the People's Choice Awards, is said to have called in removal vans to her £4million LA home to get rid of Brand's possessions from the property.

Earlier this week, a Wetzel & Son van was seen at their mansion in Beverly Hills, with reports suggesting that despite rumours Katy will continue living in the home, it's thought Russell may keep the Hollywood pad as a base when in the US.
