The MC has also quashed reports he's working with the original Sugababes...
Professor Green has revealed that he's no longer scared of being happy and is looking forward to enjoying his success.
The Never Be A Right Time rapper, who is nominated for the Best Male gong at The Brit Awards 2012, claims to The Mirror that he wants to forget about his turbulent past and start having fun in the showbiz spotlight.
Pro - real name Stephen Manderson - told the newspaper: "I wasn't complaining about my success, I was trying to figure out why I wasn't happy,
"I tried talking to therapists but it didn't help me. I'm an idiot for that. When I had my 28th birthday, I thought, 'I have to stop being scared of being happy'. Otherwise I'm going to get past this and think, 'You idiot. You could have had so much more fun'.
"I'm not saying it's a positive to go from one extreme to the other, but between November and January I've only had three nights not drinking and I did the best shows I've ever done. Alcohol isn't the answer, it just played a part in me enjoying it."
Green was keen to add that despite being prepared to let his hair down, he will not let his partying get out of control, stating that he no longer uses hard drugs.
The 28-year old explained: "I have more than enough examples from past artists to know not to go too far down that path. I'm enjoying it, but it does scare the life out of me. You never know what's around the corner."
Speaking of his drug dealer past, Pro claimed: "Drugs are a horrible thing to get too wrapped up in. I never once sold crack or heroin. I don't know how people have the heart to sell to people at their most vulnerable."
The Read All About It star also addressed his relationship with Hollyoaks actress Candy McCulloch, saying that she has given him stability.
The Prof said: "I was not looking for a relationship but she’s the most together person I’ve ever met. I was used to quite turbulent relationships, but we’re not at each others’ throats. What we’ve got is respect.”
In other Professor Green news, the East London MC has quashed reports suggesting he's working on new material with the original Sugababes - Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan.
He told Digital Spy: "No no no no, I was working with a producer [called] Mojo upstairs and Naughty Boy was downstairs working on something with Keisha.
"I was in the same complex and Keisha tweeted that I was there and she was with two girls, and it just spread like wildfire."
