Fleet Foxes

Fleet Foxes have one fewer contributor to those mighty harmonies: drummer J. Tillman has left the group.

The folk musician, who has released several solo albums on indie label Western Vinyl, joined the Seattle act in 2008 after the recording of the group's self-titled debut album.

"Farewell Fleet Fans and Friends," Tillman wrote on his Tumblr blog on Wednesday. "Back into the gaping maw of obscurity I go. Tokyo is my last show with the Foxes. Sorry if I was distant and obtuse if we ever met. Have fun."

In related news, Sub Pop Records announced the signing of Fleet Foxes members Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott's new group, Poor Moon. The quartet also includes brothers Ian and Peter Murray. Their debut EP will land on March 27.

Wargo and Wescott previously played in indie-pop group Crystal Skulls, before joining Fleet Foxes and placing the former group on an unofficial hiatus.

Fleet Foxes' own label future remains cloudy: according to frontman Robin Pecknold's Twitter page, the band is under no contract after the release of 2011's successful sophomore effort, "Helplessness Blues," also released on Sub Pop.
